Our design for this prominent site on Dorchester Road, Weymouth, replaces an outdated older person’s housing scheme with a contemporary new development for Anchor, providing 37 high-quality apartments and a range of communal facilities.

Following close consultation with residents and the local authority, planning approval was swiftly secured, enabling construction to begin in 2024.

The design makes efficient use of the site while carefully responding to its sensitive context. It minimises impact on the existing mature trees and neighbouring properties, including an adjacent listed building.

Architecturally, the building’s projecting, angled north end reinforces the street corner, creating a distinctive townscape feature. Projecting bays and balconies animate the elevations, adding depth and character.

The new apartments exceed current housing design and sustainability standards, offering residents generous internal layouts, private balconies or terraces, and access to attractive communal gardens.
