The Beacon

This community centre on the Rayners Lane Estate re-provides existing facilities which were previously dispersed across the neighbourhood. The building provides a new focal point for the estate and the wider community.

Within the centre, multi-purpose sports facilities and a diverse range of other uses and activities are catered for. It also provides new office accommodation for Home Group’s onsite regeneration team together with a corner shop facility.

While the external low energy design utilises natural ventilation and passive solar shading to eliminate the need for summer cooling.

In 2007, The Beacon was awarded ‘Runner Up’ for ‘Best Multi Purpose Project’ by the London District Surveyors Association.
